This is not where the LSU faithful thought they would be after Sunday night's NCAA Super Regional Game in Baton Rouge. Many of the Tiger faithful went into the weekend loaded with confidence. After all the Tigers' pedigree in post season action is pretty strong. Somebody forgot tell Coastal Carolina they should be intimidated.

The Chanticleers were probably a mystery to most Louisiana baseball fans. I would hazard a guess that most fans only knew them because of their unique mascot. In the world of college baseball they have proven they are much more than "a big chicken".

Coastal Carolina swept the Tigers in two straight games in the Super Regional defeating LSU Sunday night by a score of 4-3 in walk off fashion in the bottom of the 9th inning.

It wasn't as though the Tigers didn't have opportunities. Those opportunities however were squandered when the hits needed to bring the runs home didn't materialize.  LSU was only able the produce three hits out of seventeen opportunities with runners in scoring position.

The loss ended the Tigers 2016 baseball campaign. They finished with a record of 45 wins and 21 losses. The victory puts Coastal Carolina in their very first College World Series. The Chanticleers will take on the winner of the Florida versus Florida State series.
