LSU Fans Can Have a Free Slab of Sod from Tiger Stadium

It's been a historic season for the LSU Tigers football team as the Purple & Gold just wrapped up a perfect 12-0 season.

And now, you can have a keepsake to commemorate the occasion.

The LSU Athletic Department will be giving away free slabs of sod from Tiger Stadium as contractors begin removing it for upcoming field renovations.

Crews will be replacing the field and improving drainage in the stadium over the next few months.

The sod will be given out to fans on a first-come, first-serve basis from 4 to 6 pm today (Dec. 2) at the Bullpen lot at Alex Box Stadium. There will be a total of 3,300 slabs given out.

Fans are asked to take no more than four slabs per person. Each one measures about 18" x 24".
