LSU Football Falls Big In Latest Polls After Loss To USC
The first week of the college football season is in the books and there were some shocking outcomes over the weekend.
Florida State was ranked #10 in the country and was favored by 15 1/2 points and they lost to Boston College 28-13. With the loss, Florida State went to 0-2 on the season and fell out of the Top 25 rankings.
Another team that fell in the polls is the Oregon Ducks. Going into last Saturday, they were ranked the #3 team in the country but they struggled to take on Idaho only winning 24-14 which for the poll voters made them decide to drop them in the polls four spots to #7 in the AP poll.
As for the LSU Tigers, the purple and gold failed to win its season opener. The last time the Tigers won its season opener was in 2019 when they won the national championship under Coach O. This is the third straight year under head coach Brian Kelly that LSU has lost its season opener. USC beat the Tigers Sunday night 27-20 and the poll voters punished the Tigers for that loss dropping them big in the rankings. LSU fell five spots from #13 to #18 in the AP Poll and they fell seven spots in the AFCA poll falling from #12 to #19.
Next up for the Tigers is its first home game of the season when they take on Southland Conference team Nicholls in Baton Rouge. The game is set for a 6:30 pm kickoff in Tiger Stadium and the game will be televised on the SEC Network+.
