Officials with Louisiana State University have issued a revised policy for coronavirus quarantine. The policy will take effect immediately and includes faculty, staff, and students on campus in Baton Rouge. Classes for the LSU fall 2020 semester ended on Saturday, December 5th, and final exams ended on Dec 12. However, the Winter session begins today, Tuesday, December 15, and the Spring 2021 semester will begin on Monday, January 11. Commencement for the Class of 2020 will be held this Friday, December 18.

According to an official press release from the university, the revised quarantine policy states that LSU will now allow students, faculty, and staff to shorten the quarantine period to 10 days after they have been exposed to a positive case if they meet certain criteria, which is listed below.

  • Must not have experienced any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 since your exposure to the positive case
  • Must receive a negative COVID-19 test result. This test can be PCR or a rapid antigen test, and the test must take place on or after Day 10
  • Test results must be submitted online here. This quarantine testing release is for students, faculty, and staff members
  •  All will be required to fill out the daily symptom checker for 14 days from the date of the last close contact with a positive case

For those who choose not to follow the measures above, they will be required to complete a 14-day quarantine period. You can find more information on that here in the official university quarantine and isolation guide.

Students can get tested for COVID-19 at the Student Health Center on campus by calling 225-578-6716 to schedule an appointment.
