Machinery Services Facility Planned for Jena

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A machinery services company plans to build a $3.9 million facility in southwest Louisiana that will provide welding and equipment repair.

UPS Midstream Services Inc. estimates its facility in Jena will create 95 new jobs. The Texas-based company announced its plans Monday at an event with Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The governor's office said the Jena facility will work primarily with companies that service pipelines in the petrochemical industry around the country.

Louisiana is giving UPS Midstream Services a $272,000 grant, along with state and local tax breaks for the project. Construction is expected to be completed by June 2013, with all jobs in place by 2017.
