BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A 32-year-old Baton Rouge man has been indicted in the Sept. 5 drive-by shooting death of a 27-year-old man.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/VyBVkb) an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury on Wednesday charged Jermaine Remond Williams with second-degree murder in the death of David Atkins.

Police say Atkins was walking with another man when a vehicle drove up and shot were fired.

The other man walking with Atkins was not harmed.

A second-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

It was unclear whether Williams has an attorney.
