A KPEL news source says a man whose truck was swept off of an I-49 service road in Sunset this morning was rescued by two good samaritans.

The driver of the pickup truck was reportedly headed northbound on the service road near Interstate 49 in Sunset earlier today, when an 18-wheeler, also using the service road, hit a pool of water and created a wave that knocked the truck off the road.

The pickup truck was then apparently swept by the current into the bayou behind the Bike Barn Saloons.

The man escaped his submerged truck, clutching onto the vehicle against the swift current. Two men watching from a nearby truck saw the man struggling to stay afloat and threw down a rope, which the man used to pull himself to safety.

Local law enforcement and fire department officers could not confirm any information about the incident. A man by the name of Wilbert Beaudroux, the victim's name according to our anonymous source, checked out of Opelousas Hospital earlier today.
