Meche's Donuts in New Iberia will be closed today after the store was damaged by gunfire in the overnight hours of Sunday, July 14, 2024.

According to New Iberia Police Captain Leland Laseter, their department received a call at 2:30 am regarding shots fired in the 400 block of East Saint Peter Street.

Once on the scene, deputies discovered damage to the business, but thankfully, no one was injured at the time of the shooting.

The owners of the business took to Facebook to confirm that while employees were working at the time, they were safe and no one was injured.

As you can see in the post above, the business will be closed until Tuesday, July 16th to allow for repairs to the building.

The incident remains under investigation.
