Memorial Fund Set Up For Slain Deputy’s Family
ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) — The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office says a memorial support fund has been set up for donations to help the family of slain deputy Allen Bares.
Sheriff Mike Couvillon said in a news release this week that donations can be made to the Allen M. Bares Memorial Fund at Gulf Coast Bank of Abbeville.
Bares, a 12-year law enforcement veteran, was killed June 23 when he encountered two men suspected of burglarizing a home near where Bares was cutting grass on his day off.
Two men were captured and face charges of first-degree murder in his death.
