Mississippi Man Dies In Crash On Louisiana Highway 31

Last night, troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on LA Highway 31 near Joseph Road which claimed the life of a Mississippi man.

Police say the man, for reasons still under investigation, traveled off the left side of the road, hit a ditch embankment, hit a utility pole and then 51-year-old Eric Toy's car overturned.

Toy was wearing his seat belt, but was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the St. Martin Parish Coroner.

Troopers obtained routine toxicology samples which will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.
