101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty talks about an incident involving a Texas woman and her daughter, after Southwest Airlines employees made fun of the 5-year-old's name, ABCDE, pronounced "ab' - suh - dee."

Specifically, RJW asks what responsibility - or blame - Traci Redford has for giving her daughter a name that was sure to be ridiculed. Or, as Robert phrased it, "Hashtag, a boy names Sue."

Here are details from nydailynews.com:

"A mother is furious after a California Southwest airlines gate agent mocked her daughter’s name “Abcde” and posted about it on social media.

Traci Redford was boarding a flight at with her daughter “Abcde,” at John Wayne Airport in Orange County when an employee mocked her daughter’s name.

“The gate agent started mocking my child’s name, laughing, pointing at me and my daughter, and then talking to other employees, so I turned around and just said like ‘Hey, I can hear you, so if I can hear you, my daughter can too, like I’d appreciate if you’d just stop.’” Redford told KABC-TV.

The employee took a picture of Abcde’s boarding pass and posted it on social media.

Redford’s daughter did not understand why the employee was laughing."

After making a formal complaint, Southwest issued an official apology to both the mother and daughter.
