Monroe City Council Approves Cost Saving Proposals
MONROE, La. (AP) — The Monroe City Council has voted in favor of several measures that would save millions of dollars.
The News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/ILoVwa ) the council voted unanimously Wednesday night to adopt a resolution to seek permission from the State Bond Commission refinance bonds the city sold to pay for a loan from the Department of Environmental Quality.
The city also approved request by the Monroe Police Department to purchase 10, 2012 Dodge Charger pursuit vehicles as part of a state contract. Police Chief Quentin Holmes said the city chose the Dodge because they cost about $5,000 less than their competitors.
Finally, the council adopted a supplemental bond ordinance to refinance a previously sold bond.
