Mother Jailed After Daughter Severely Burned By Hot Grease

(Monroe, LA)  --  A Monroe woman was charged Tuesday night with one count of cruelty to a juvenile after her five-year-old daughter pulled a hot pan of grease onto herself. 

 Authorities say the incident happened Monday, but 22-year-old Tabatha Trasha James opted to try and treat the girl's severe burns with water and lotion.  After the girl's condition worsened yesterday, she was only then taken to St. Francis Medical Center.  She was near death at that point as a result of the third-degree burns she had suffered.
