37-year-old Tommy Wayne Myrick of Moss Bluff was killed over the weekend in a motorcycle crash on Highway 378. Louisiana State Police were on the scene just north of Westlake on Saturday.

Myrick was traveling north when he went across the center line and hit a guardrail on the Westfork Bridge. He was thrown from the motorcycle and landed off the roadway.

Since the motorcycle traveled 160 feet before stopping, police believe that he was traveling at a high rate of speed. Myrick was wearing a helmet, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol use is also expected to be a factor in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
