Though emergency crews are monitoring air and water quality along the Bayou Teche in St. Mary Parish, roads are being reopened for public travel.

Master Trooper Brooks David spoke with Rob and Bernie this morning with updates about the Bayou Teche chemical spill that has occupied emergency officials for the past 48 hours.

David said Haz-Mat crews, along with Louisiana State Police and St. Mary Parish officials, are closely monitoring the area on Bayou Teche near the Adeline Bridge.

Residents are still being asked to avoidany boatng traffic on the Bayou Teche until the scene is cleaned up and secured.

Lafayette Crime Prevention and Safety Fair will be held this weekend at the Cajun Field Parking Lot.

David said this event offers families an opportunity to meet emergency personnel.

The event, being held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Saturday, is free to the public.
