Miss Louisiana Watermelon Festival Meagan Crews was crowned Miss Louisiana 2019 last night at the state competition in Monroe.

Crews, 22, of Bossier City was crowned Saturday night at the Monroe Civic Center's WL "Jack" Howard Theatre, following days of on-stage preliminaries and interviews.

“I am extremely excited for this opportunity,” she said. “I can’t wait to share about my social impact initiative throughout the year, share my heart, make people feel special and make a difference.”

Crews beat out 28 other contestants from around the state vying for the title of Miss Louisiana and the opportunity to represent the Bayou State at Miss America.

For her efforts, Crews won a $10,000 scholarship. She also won Friday's talent round.

The Miss Louisiana Pageant is part of the Miss America Organization, which offers over $45 million in cash and scholarships annually.
