One day after trimming their roster to the NFL regular season mandated 53 players, the New Orleans Saints inked seven players to their practice squad.

Wide recievers Seantavius Jones (pictured) and R.J. Harris, former college basketball player turned tight end Chris Manhertz, fullback Toben Opurum, offensive lineman Sean Hickey, guard Cyril Lemon and cornerback Sammy Seamster all signed deals to join the Saints practice squad.

The NFL allows 10 practice squad players, meaning the Saints still have three more moves to make.

Earlier on Sunday, the Saints claimed two players off waivers. Linebacker Michael Mauti and defensive end Obum Gwacham joined New Orleans 53 man roster off waivers.

Veteran safety Kenny Philips and undrafted rookie free agent defensive tackle Ashaad Mabry were both released to make room for the two new additions.

Mabry is a strong candidate for the Saints practice squad if he doesn't receive any offers on the open market to joins another team's 53 man active roster.

Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun linebacker Justin Anderson could be a potential candidate as well, considering New Orleans has no linebackers on the practice squad yet, and several linebackers on the active roster have nursed injuries throughout the preseason.
