Louisiana Delta Community College has partnered with the Ouachita Parish District Attorney's Office to create a diversion program that allows eligible first-time offenders to have their records expunged upon completion of a GED or a one-year certificate.

Delta Interim Chancellor Jerry Ryan and District Attorney Jerry Jones signed an official agreement Monday.

As part of the diversion program, the News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/Um0DiQ ) individuals without high school diplomas will be diverted to Delta's GED/Work Ready U program. Work Ready U allows the participant to pursue a GED while learning a marketable skill.

Individuals who have a high school diploma will be diverted to one of Delta's one-year certificate training programs.

Upon completion of either program, all charges against the individual will be eliminated.
