Both victims were not wearing seat belts.

State Police trooper Stephen Hammons tells KPEL news the outcome may have been different if drivers were wearing their seat belt.

A New Iberia man was killed after his car was hit at the intersection of Neko Town Road and U-S 90 in Iberia Parish overnight.  He was not wearing a seat belt.

40 year old Marcus Sonnier of Lafayette was killed yesterday evening after his Ford Explorer veered off of LA-1252 and slammed into a culvert.  State Police say alcohol was involved.  Sonnier was not wearing a seat belt  .
