NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans police say a traffic stop near the French Quarter turned up a man wanted in Arkansas on a first-degree murder charge.

Officer Shereese Harper says 22-year-old Daniel McCravy was arrested late Wednesday on a first-degree murder warrant accusing him of a murder in Hot Springs, Ark., in September 2009.

She says patrol officers pulled McCravy over on Canal Street near Bourbon Street because his license plate was not properly displayed. While ticketing him, they learned about the warrant and arrested him.

Her statement Thursday did not give any other details about the killing. She did not immediately respond to a phone call or e-mail.

Hot Springs police and a Garland County sheriff's deputy both say no information will be available until Monday, when their spokesmen return to work.
