WASHINGTON (AP) — American mayors are convening at the White House to meet with members of President Barack Obama's Cabinet and with senior White House officials today to discuss relations between the federal government and the nation's cities.

The mayors' visit is part of the 82nd winter meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington.

Obama will address the city leaders this afternoon.

The visit comes just days after the president's State of the Union address. Obama has been promoting key elements of his economic agenda and is likely to make that case to the mayors.
