Spill-Impacted Fishermen To Get Donated Money

Louisiana fisherman impacted by the BP Oil receive a nice Christmas gift today. Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing board Chairman Harlon Pearce says the Friends of the Fisherman Fund was established so that donations could be made to Louisiana Fisherman. The board announces the first round of funding to Louisiana Fisherman.
Pearce says many individuals and prominent Louisiana businesses have contributed to the Friends of the Fisherman fund. Pearce says $127,000 will be given out to 254 Louisiana Fisherman in $500 checks. He says the Friends of the Fisherman Fund will be an ongoing vehicle for businesses and individuals to donate money to fishermen out of work because of the oil.
