Opelousas Man Booked For Robbing Dollar Store
An Opelousas man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly robbing a store at gunpoint.
Police said the Family Dollar on West Landry Street was robbed Monday at 9:55 p.m. The cashier told police the suspect, 26-year-old Carey Reed, Jr., walked into the store with a gun while employees were trying to close and demanded money from the register.
Reed allegedly left the store with about $1,400, police said.
Police said surveillance video from a nearby business led investigators to Reed, and he was booked into jail on a count of armed robbery.
