Pilot Injured In Beauregard Parish Crash

DERIDDER, La. (AP) — Beauregard Parish sheriff's deputies say the pilot of a small plane was injured in a crash south of DeRidder.

Chief Deputy Joe Toler said the crash happened around 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

Toler tells KPLC TV (http://bit.ly/WQ7ENz ) the pilot was pulled from the wreckage and taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The pilot's name has not been released.

A resident who lives about half a mile from the crash told the television station he saw smoke coming from the plane which appeared to be flying very low. He said it sounded like the plane's engine was cutting out minutes before the crash

The cause of the crash in under investigation.
