Police: Prop Money Used Multiple Times In St. Martinville
St. Martinville Police are investigating multiple complaints of counterfeit money being spent in private online sales. The prop money that has been recovered is made to be used in movies and can be purchased online, but it's not real. Sellers of items online (Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc.) are the common target of the scam in St. Martinville.
St. Martinville Police released the following statement:
The St. Martinville Police Department advise that exchange of goods from Facebook Marketplace, or similar services, be conducted at SMPD’s safe exchange location. SMPD’s Safe Exchange Location is monitored twenty-four hours a day by our surveillance cameras and these locations are proven to deter scam artist across the nation.
