Popular Texas Tortilla Chip Recalled – What Texans Need to Know
We can neither confirm nor deny that any Texas Tech Basketball fan will have any fingernails or even fingertips to chew on as their team advances in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. That was a nail-biter last night.
Let's hope the subsequent games will allow Texas basketball fans in Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, and even Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth to not snack on their own appendages but maybe switch to something more palatable and delicious. Like tortilla chips.
Many Texas families make their own tortilla chips. Mine is not one of those families so I lean on the folks I have always leaned on when it comes to crunchy salty snacks in a bag, Frito Lay.
I love my Lays Potato Chips and many of you love the Tostitos brand tortilla chip. Well, there is an issue with certain bags of Tostitos that you'll need to be aware of. Especially if you have "muy grande" snacking plans this weekend.
Perhaps the biggest name in corn chips and potato chips in the world is the conglomerate known as Frito Lay. The folks at Frito Lay, who are actually under the Pepsico umbrella, bring us many of our favorite brands of snack chips. They are also sticklers for quality and food safety.
The information we've posted below was included in a press release passed on to media outlets by Frito Lay. It contains details of a limited recall the company has instituted.
That's why Frito Lay has issued a recall on certain 13-ounce bags of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips. The reason for the recall is the potential of an undisclosed allergen. Frito Lay believes that some of the Tostitos bags could include nacho cheese, a potential milk allergen, which is not disclosed on the product packaging.
The products in question could have been purchased as early as March 7, 2025, and all feature a "guaranteed fresh" date of May 20, 2025. The chips were distributed to several states in the Gulf South. As of this report, there have been no reports of allergic reactions related to the recall.
If you find that you have some of the recalled products in your home. You may visit this Frito Lay link for refund or replacement information.
