HOMER, La. (AP) — Authorities say a possible suspect has been arrested following an investigation into the shooting death of a Claiborne Parish police juror.

Sheriff Ken Bailey says a 19-year-old man was arrested on a warrant alleging illegal possession of a weapon. Bailey says the man "is a person of interest" in Thursday's shooting death of Police Juror Butch Bays.

The 72-year-old Bays was found on the floor of his Summerfield store on Thursday morning by a customer. Authorities say he had been shot several times in the back — and some cash had been taken from the store.

Bays was in his fifth term on the police jury.
