MONROE, La. (AP) — Four members of the Ouachita Parish School Board voted to approve a redistricting plan that closely resembles the board's existing districts.

The News-Star reports the plan was one of two under consideration Thursday night.

The adopted plan retains four districts in the western part of the parish and three to the east of the Ouachita River.

Sixty percent of the district's students and schools are on the western side of the river.

Board member Jerry Hicks said the changes from the existing districts to those in the adopted plan were minor.
