Quincy Richard Sr. Convicted On All Charges In St. Landry Parish School Board Bribery Case
St. Landry Parish School Board Member 51-year-old Quincy Richard Sr. of Opelousas has been convicted of taking bribes for his vote in favor of a former candidate for St. Landry Parish Superintendent.
According to court documents, Richard, along with fellow board member 72-year-old John Miller of Opelousas, who has already pled guilty in the case, met with superintendent candidate Joseph Cassimere, getting him to pay them $5,000.00 each in return for their votes for superintendent. But Cassimere was working for the FBI.
Richard faces up to 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines for all three counts - two counts of bribery and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery. Miller faces up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines on one cont of conspiracy to commit bribery. Sentencing dates have not been set.
