ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — The Rapides Parish Police Jury will decide which architectural firm will work on a proposed $23 million renovation and upgrade of the Rapides Coliseum.

The jury's Coliseum Study Committee met Wednesday and was supposed to make a recommendation to the jury.

Instead, The Town Talk reports a meeting has been called for Monday where the two firms under consideration will make design presentations to the full jury.

Alliance Design Group and Barron Heinberg & Brocato presented to the Coliseum Authority Tuesday night, with several jury members present.

Designs call for, among other things, adding about 1,500 seats and new skyboxes; installing new sound, lighting and electrical systems; refurbishing meeting areas and dressing rooms; and adding amenities such as a larger stage and a removable basketball floor.
