Remembering Tito Jackson: Iconic Jackson 5 Member Passes Away At 70
Tito Jackson of the Jackson 5 has passed away, according to a post written by his sons TJ, Taj and Taryll on Instagram late Sunday. He was 70.
Born on October 15, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, Tito was the third of nine children born to Joe and Katherine Jackson.

Tito rose to international fame as a guitarist and vocalist with The Jackson 5, alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael. Their infectious blend of soul, pop, and R&B captivated audiences worldwide, and Tito’s steady guitar playing laid the foundation for many of the group’s chart-topping hits, including “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There.”
Beyond his time with The Jackson 5, Tito maintained a long and varied career in music, continuing to perform as a solo artist and with his family. He released several solo albums, including Tito Time, which allowed him to express his personal style and passion for blues and soul music.
Known for his gentle demeanor, unwavering loyalty to his family, and deep dedication to music, Tito was a beloved father, brother, and friend. He is survived by his three children, Taj, Taryll, and TJ, as well as his grandchildren and extended family. His presence in the world of music, and the hearts of his fans, will be sorely missed.
Funeral arrangements will be made in private, with a public memorial to be announced.
