The New Orleans Saints have filled their linebackers coach position, hiring former San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan, according to multiple reports.

Nolan, son of former Saints head coach Dick Nolan, was most recently the linebackers coach for the San Diego Chargers in 2015.

He spent the early part of his career with the LSU Tigers on Bill Arnsparger's staff in 1985 and 1986.

From there, he entered the NFL as a special teams coach, eventually moving to linebackers coach, and worked his way to defensive coordinator on several teams.

In 2005, the San Francisco 49ers hired Nolan as head coach. He was fired in 2008 after posting an 18-37 record in three plus seasons.

New Orleans still has openings for a special teams coach, defensive line coach, and wide receivers coach.
