SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — The return of Louisiana National Guard soldiers deployed to Iraq continues this week.

Soldiers from the 256th Infantry Combat Brigade have been returning home to cities statewide. Louisiana National Guard spokesperson Mike Kazmierzak says that 300 soldiers are coming home today. Kazmierzak says that when the men and women return home from active duty deployment, they have to go through a demobilization process or "leaving active duty". During their tour of duty in Iraq, four members of the 256 were killed in combat and non-combat operations. Kazmierzak says they are ecstatic that they were able to get the soldiers home to their families before Christmas.

Today, 30 soldiers returned to Abbeville.

Monday, 44 soldiers on two buses arrived at Shreveport's Fort Humbug, where friends and family were waiting. More were expected there today and Wednesday, according to The Times of Shreveport.

Among those returning Monday was Danny Titus of Bossier City, who said he was happy to have completed his latest deployment. His first one was cut short after his jaw being was shattered in a roadside bomb explosion in 2005.
