METAIRIE, La. (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have placed kick returner Courtney Roby on injured reserve, officially ending his season three weeks after he suffering a concussion during a game against the St. Louis Rams.

Roby has missed the past two games since his injury, although head coach Sean Payton said last week that he had been cleared to play again. Roby had averaged 23.8 yards on 33 kickoff returns this season, with a long return of 39 yards.

Running back Pierre Thomas has handled kickoff returns in Roby's absence, averaging 22 yards on seven returns.

Meanwhile, the Saints — who play Tampa Bay on Sunday — moved receiver Adrian Arrington from their practice squad to the active roster. Arrington caught two touchdown passes during the preseason.
