Scott Pursues Curbside Recycling

SCOTT, La. (AP) — Officials say curbside recycling might return to the city of Scott.

Scott, the largest municipality in Lafayette Parish outside of Lafayette, lost curbside service three years ago when the city renegotiated its garbage contract.

Mayor Purvis Morrison said the cost was too high.

But Morrison, who took office in January, said he is now researching what it would take to bring recycling back.

The Advocate reports the Scott City Council this month gave preliminary approval for Morrison to explore options and costs for curbside recycling.

The mayor said he hopes to have a public meeting on the issue in the coming weeks and, if the council approves, call for quotes on recycling service within the next three or four months.
