In an interview with KPEL News, Senator Bill Cassidy says his views on Louisiana's controversial abortion law are simple. As a doctor, he says he would always advocate for anyone performing an abortion to have hospital admitting privileges. The requirement that doctors can admit patients in case of an emergency is a key component of the legislation that was signed into law by Governor John Bel Edwards. Opponents say this restricts access to abortions for much of the state. The state will get its day in court. The United States Supreme Court said they will take up the case in the upcoming session.
