U.S. Senator David Vitter announced this week that nine regional airports across the state of Louisiana will be getting federal grant money.

Vitter says the money, some $13 million, will be coming through grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The money will be used for the following:

  • Noise Mitigation
  • Structural Improvements
  • Improving Runway Safety

Vitter says,

“Our airports connect folks across Louisiana to their family, friends, and jobs. And our regional airports are particularly important to connecting our more rural areas. These grants won’t just improve our airports – they’ll affect folks across Louisiana and those visiting our state.”

The following is a list of the specific grants for the airports:

  • $1,500,000 to Lafayette Regional Airport
  • $222,222 to Acadiana Regional Airport in New Iberia
  • $7,000,000 to Alexandria International Airport
  • $1,675,000 to Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, Ryan Field
  • $1,318,611 to Allen Parish Airport
  • $709,536 to Leesville Airport
  • $585,162 to Marksville Municipal Airport
  • $225,000 to John H Hooks Jr Memorial Airport in Rayville
  • $86,440 to Springhill Airport
