NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to postpone a sentencing hearing for a former New Orleans police lieutenant who pleaded guilty to conspiring to cover up deadly shootings of unarmed civilians in Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath.

Michael Lohman is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 2. But prosecutors on Wednesday asked U.S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle to sentence Lohman after a trial this summer for six current or former officers charged in the deadly shooting of unarmed residents on the Danziger Bridge after the 2005 storm.

Two other former officers who pleaded guilty to participating in the alleged cover-up already have been sentenced.

Police shot and killed two people and wounded four others on the bridge.
