Shreveport Doctor Says Many Drugs Are Being Tested

Dr. John Vanchiere, an infectious disease specialist at LSU Health tells us about what symptoms you should look out for. He also discusses the treatment protocol and some of the new treatments available. We also asked him about a malaria drug that has been touted as a possible option. He says all pharmaceutical companies have been asked to send in compounds so everything can be tested to treat this virus. He says that process is going on now.

Dr. Vanchiere says doctors are also learning about new symptoms of this virus that patients are reporting they are losing a sense of taste or smell. He says that's one thing they are looking at closely.

Louisiana has more than 1100 cases of COVID-19 including 34 deaths.
