Spring is almost here, and that means lots of outdoor activities and a ton of festivals on the horizon. Yay! Only in Louisiana has reminded me of some of my favorite food festivals that are coming up this spring around the state, so get ready for some fun, y'all!

  • Sicilian Heritage Festival, Independence. March 8-10. Love that they have an annual meatball toss and spaghetti eating contest during the festivities
  • Oyster Festival, Amite. March 15-17. The home town of our current governor has a really tasty festival that features oyster dishes of all kinds, and a wildly popular chili cook off.
  • Louisiana Crawfish Festival, Chalmette. Not to be confused with the Breaux Bridge festival, this one is still a blast. Lots of tasty crawfish dishes, carnival rides, and a really nice lineup of local entertainment.
  • Boudin Festival, Scott. April 5-7. This beloved Acadiana festival was in Broussard for many years, but has found a new home in Scott. Really great food, arts and crafts, and local music.
  • Strawberry Festival, Ponchatoula. April 12-14. Fantastic local vendors, and strawberry everything at this fun event in the historic antique district in downtown Ponchatoula.
  • Downtown Crawfish Festival, Lake Charles. April 12-14. Family friendly event with food trucks, a 5K run, and lots of great south Louisiana music.
  • Franklin Parish Catfish Festival, Winnsboro. April 13. Celebrating 33 years, this tasty event features all your favorite catfish dishes, and promotes local businesses with lots of vendors, music and fun.
