15 names appear on the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrest report, which covers the holiday period. Deputies say they investigated 169 complaints over the time period.

Brock J. Broussard, 28, 906 First Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 22, 2016 at 10:22 am on a warrant from Patterson Police on the charges of second degree aggravated battery and aggravated criminal damage to property. A deputy was dispatched to a business on Highway 90 in the Patterson area to assist Patterson Police in locating Broussard who was wanted on the warrant. Broussard was taken into custody and transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $250,000.

Latifha Friels, 23, 404 Fifth Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on December 22, 2016 at 12:12 pm for failure to signal 100 feet prior to an intersection, no driver's license, and no motor vehicle insurance. A deputy observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn at the intersection of Polaris and Middle Roads in Bayou Vista and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, Friels, the deputy found that she did not have a driver's license or insurance on the vehicle. Friels was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Wynn Whitehurst, 41, 197 Jupiter Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on December 22, 2016 at 1:28 pm on a warrant for attempted theft of a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property, and theft. A deputy investigating an attempted theft of a vehicle from a business on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista identified Whitehurst as a suspect in the crime. The deputy collected evidence that Whitehurst shattered the window of the truck, damaged the steering column, and stole a jack from the bed of the vehicle. During the investigation, the deputy also found evidence that Whitehurst also stole a license plate from a vehicle that was parked in Morgan City. The deputy obtained a warrant for Whitehurst's arrest. A correctional officer booked Whitehurst who was being housed in Berwick on other charges. No bail is set.

Cole Fruge, 25, 1302 Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 23, 2016 at 12:44 am for theft of goods and vagrancy. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Fruge took a drink and candy bar and ate them in the store without paying for the items. While speaking with Fruge, the deputy observed a cut on his face. Acadian Ambulance was contacted. Fruge refused medical attention. The deputy also gave Fruge several opportunities to pay for the stolen items. Fruge refused. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Fruge habitually loafs the streets of Bayou Vista and had been asked to leave the business on several prior occasions. Fruge was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $1,750.

Maxine Provost, 72, 721 West Washington Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on December 23, 2016 at 12:25 pm for hit and run driving, possession of Schedule IV (Xanax), and failure to yield. A deputy responded to a report of a hit and run vehicle crash that occurred on LA Highway 670 at LA Highway 182 in Baldwin. The deputy located a vehicle bumper in a nearby field and identified the owner of the car as Provost. The information was disseminated to Chitimacha Tribal Police. Chitimacha Police located the suspect vehicle in Charenton and detained Provost who had been driving the vehicle. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Provost pulled out in front of an oncoming vehicle causing the crash. Provost admitted that she was taking medication at the time of the crash. The deputy located Xanax pills in Provost's purse. Provost was unable to provide a prescription for the pills. Provost was transported to the parish jail for booking. She was released on a $1,500 personal surety bond.

Jenny Landry, 59, 529 Teche Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 23, 2016 at 9:24 pm for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash that occurred in the parking lot of a gas station on Highway 90 in the Patterson area. The deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Landry, and learned that she struck a gas pump causing damage to it. While speaking with Landry, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and observed her swaying from side to side. The deputy conducted a field sobriety test. Landry performed poorly. Following the crash investigation, she was transported to the parish jail for booking. Landry was released on a $2,500 bond.

Scotty Pellerin, 36, 105 W. Bernard Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on December 23, 2016 at 9:40 pm for the following offenses:
Possession of Schedule II
Entering contraband into a penal institution
Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of reckless operation of a vehicle
Franklin Police Department warrant for attempted first degree murder of a peace officer, theft of goods, driving under suspension, resisting an officer with force or violence, and reckless operation of a vehicle
Franklin Police Department warrant for theft of goods and remaining where forbidden
Deputies developed information that Pellerin, who was wanted on warrants, was at a residence on Malcolm Lane in Franklin. Deputies and Franklin Police made contact with several occupants. A deputy then located Pellerin inside the residence. Pellerin was transported to the parish jail on the warrants. During booking, a correctional officer located methamphetamine in Pellerin's wallet. No bail is set.

James C. Dinicola, 25, 124 Field Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 24, 2016 at 9:15 am for driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign on Southeast Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy spoke with the driver, Dinicola, and found that his license was listed as suspended. Dinicola was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Cherie Hendricks, 45, 2656 W. Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL was arrested on December 24, 2016 at 12:59 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy spoke with store security and learned that Hendricks was seen placing reading glasses into a book sack she was carrying. Hendricks was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Joseph J. Julien, 50, 214 Arizona Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on December 24, 2016 at 5:50 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy responded to a request from Berwick Police to assist a motorist on Highway 90 in Berwick. The deputy spoke with several subjects in the vehicle, including Julien, and located an active warrant for his arrest. The deputy provided water for Julien to put in the vehicle. However, Julien was unable to get the vehicle to start. The deputy assisted Julien in pushing the vehicle to a safe location. Another deputy transported the remaining occupants of the vehicle to their home. Julien was transported to the parish jail on the warrant. Bail is set at $9,292.46.

Marvin Machado, 36, 111 Chirpy's Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 25, 2016 at 5:24 am for domestic abuse battery (child endangerment). A deputy responded to a report of domestic abuse at a residence in Amelia. During the investigation, the deputy identified Machado as the suspect in the crime and located him at his residence. The deputy collected evidence that Machado struck a female victim in the face, pulled her hair, and pushed her while yelling at her. The victim suffered swelling in her face and numerous scratches to her chest. A juvenile was present at the residence during the battery. Machado was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was released after posting a $3,500 bond.

Jose M. Biban, 29, 156 Lenny's Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 25, 2016 at 9:25 pm for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a request to remove a subject from a residence in Amelia. The deputy spoke with the subjects involved and learned that a domestic disturbance had taken place at the residence. The deputy found evidence that Biban grabbed a female victim and struck her in the face. Biban was transported to the parish jail for booking. Biban was released after posting a $2,500 bond.

Ronnie J. Chaisson, 55, 2601 Lake Palourde Road, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 26, 2016 at 11:28 am on a City Court of Denham Springs warrant for theft (felony). A detective of the Criminal Investigation Section assisted Denham Springs Police with an investigation into a theft. The detective recovered over $2,000 in property that was reported stolen including a generator, tools, and antiques from Chaisson's residence in Amelia. Chaisson turned himself in to a deputy in Amelia. The deputy transported Chaisson to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Jesse J. Landry, Sr., 27, 1302 Adrian Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on December 26, 2016 at 9:34 pm for violation of protective orders. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance in Franklin. The deputy found evidence that Landry came within 100 yards of a subject's residence which was in violation of an active protective order. Landry was transported to the parish jail for booking. Landry was released on a $2,500 bond.

Pedro Vazquez-Garcia, 36, 620 Easy Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 27, 2016 at 5:10 am for driving under suspension. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Duhon Bypass Road in Amelia after observing a vehicle without an illuminated license plate light. While speaking with the driver, Vazquez-Garcia, the deputy found that he was operating the SUV with a suspended driver's license. Vazquez-Garcia was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.
