State GOP Picks Livingston As Chief Fundraiser

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The Republican

 Party of Louisiana has named former U.S. Rep. Robert Livingston as finance chairman.

In a statement Tuesday, state GOP chairman Roger Villere said Livingston's role will be crucial in fundraising as the party strives to hold majorities in the state House of Representatives and state Senate.

Livingston was first elected to the U.S. House in 1977 and served 11 terms before resigning in the late 1990s amid disclosures of marital indiscretions.
