State Trooper Arrested in Louisiana
A state trooper in Northeast Louisiana faces serious charges today. 30-year-old Trooper Jacob Brown is charged with aggravated second-degree battery and malfeasance in office.
This arrest comes after a civil lawsuit was filed in connection with an incident in May of last year. State police began investigating the case after being served with the lawsuit which accuses an unnamed trooper of using excessive force.
State police issued this statement:
As the investigation continued, detectives learned that Brown engaged in excessive and unjustifiable actions during the incident and failed to report the use of force to his supervisors.
This incident happened while Trooper Brown was helping the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office make an arrest.
State Police Superintendent Colonel Lamar Davis says “The public trust and responsibility bestowed upon us as law enforcement professionals is of the utmost importance. We owe not only the public we serve, but also the dedicated men and women of our department a just and timely response.”
Brown is on leave as the criminal investigation continues.
