Subtropical Storm Andrea Forms Off U.S. East Coast
Mother Nature has once again jumped the gun on the official start of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season. That just goes to show you how much respect nature doesn't have for the ways and wishes of men right?
Subtropical Storm Andrea was given that status late yesterday after satellite images and data collected from the area determined it had met all the qualifications to earn a name. As of early this morning, Andrea had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and a closed center of circulation. That pretty much checks the important boxes when it comes to earning a name for a tropical cyclone.
However, if you want to see Andrea, you better look quick. Forecasters don't give the system too much of a chance to survive as a subtropical storm for too much longer. The weather system is expected to be absorbed as part of a frontal boundary that should move over the storm system's location later today or early on Wednesday.
Even though the system is located 300 miles southwest of Bermuda it is not expected to create much more than some squally showers and gusty breezes over the island before it is pushed further out into the Atlantic
