Sulphur Raises Fees On Sex Offenders

SULPHUR, La. (AP) — The City Council has raised Sulphur's renewal fee for registered sex offenders and the one-time registration fee charged to sex offenders moving to the area.

The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/cseYHv ) the ordinance approved this past week increases the annual renewal fee for offenders currently residing in Sulphur from $60 to $200. A one-time fee of $600 will apply to offenders moving into the city.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff 's Office website, there are 75 registered sex offenders living in Sulphur.
