Six of the eight Sun Belt Conference teams remain above the .500 mark, as the seventh weekend of the 2014 college softball season draws near.

13th-ranked South Alabama is 22-3, while 20th-ranked Louisiana is 19-6-1, to lead the way in non-conference play in the standings.

Following the two ranked teams are WKU (16-10-1), ULM (14-9), Texas St. (18-12), Georgia St. (13-13), U-Arlington (14-15), and Troy (14-15-2).

There has been only on conference game played so far, but that will change this weekend, with three league series' on the schedule.

In the lone conference games this year, Texas St. won two of three games from ULM.

Let's take a look at the respective conference series' schedule for this weekend:

 

LOUISIANA (19-6-1, 0-0) at GEORGIA ST. (13-13, 0-0)

Louisiana, who ranks third in the league in hitting (.286) and sixth in pitching (3.94), will be on the road this weekend, to take on the Georgia Host Panthers, in a three-game, weekend, Sun belt Conference series.

UL, who won two of three games from the defending national champion Oklahoma Sooners last weekend, is led by freshman outfielder Hayley Hayden, who currently leads the conference in home runs, with nine, and is tied for the lead in runs batted in with Georgia St.'s Lauren Coleman, with 25.

The Panthers, who are paced by Coleman, who is hitting a .375 with five home runs and 25 RBI's, currently rank second in the conference in hitting (.303) and eighth in pitching (4.77).

Louisiana and Georgia will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon (cdt), and a single game on Sunday at 11 am.

 

UT-ARLINGTON (14-15, 0-0) at SOUTH ALABAMA (22-3, 0-0)   

South Alabama, who currently ranks seventh in the league in hitting  (.248)  and first in pitching (1.03), plays host to UT-Arlington this weekend.

The Jaguars feature the individual league leaders in ERA., with junior right-hander Farish Beard (0.40) and senior left-hander Hannah Campbell (0.83).

The Mavericks currently rank fourth in the conference in hitting (.275) and fifth in pitching (2.75).

The series is scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 pm, followed by a single game on Sunday at noon.

 

WKU (16-10-1) at TROY (14-15-2)

WKU, who was last weekend, feature the league’s leading hitter in Olivia Watkins  (.471), and currently rank fifth in the conference in hitting (.268) and third in ERA. (2.42).

The Lady Toppers are also the top fielding team in the league, at a .978.

The Trojans are currently tenth in the league in hitting (.229),  but second in pitching (2.06).

The two teams will play a 1 o'clock doubleheader on Saturday, followed by a noon single game on Sunday.

Those are the conference series' that are scheduled for this weekend, with Texas St. playing in non-conference play, and ULM being idle this weekend.

Texas St. (18-12, 2-1) will travel to Lubbock, Texas this weekend, to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a three-game, weekend, non-conference series. The Bobcats currently rank sixth in the league in hitting (.264) and fourth in pitching (2.74).

ULM is idle this weekend. The Warhawks have arguably been the most surprising team in the conference so far, leading the league in both hitting  (.311) and runs scored (150), while ranking seventh in pitching (4.00).
