Four big softball series' highlight the second full weekend of league play in the Sun Belt Conference this week.

Currently, 13th-ranked South Alabama is 4-0, while 20th-ranked Louisiana and WKU are both 3-0, with Texas St. coming in at 2-1 in the conference standings. Following those teams are ULM at 1-2, Georgia St. and UT-Arlington at 0-3, and Troy at 0-4.

Let’s take a look at the respective conference series’ schedule for this weekend:

 

TEXAS ST. (18-15, 2-1) at  #20 LOUISIANA (22-6-1, 3-0)

Louisiana, who ranks second in the league in hitting (.303) and fifth in pitching (3.33), will be at home this weekend, playing host to the Texas St. Bobcats, in a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series.

UL, who won seven-straight, and 14 of their last 15, is led by freshman outfielder Hayley Hayden, who currently leads the conference in home runs, with ten, and runs batted in, with 35, along with senior second baseman Natalie Fernandez, who leads the conference in hitting (.517).

Texas St. currently ranks fourth in the conference in hitting (.277) and third in pitching (2.77).

Louisiana and Texas St. will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2 o'clock (cdt), and a single game on Sunday at 1 pm.

 

ULM (14-9, 1-2) at SOUTH ALABAMA (26-3, 4-0)   

South Alabama, who currently ranks sixth in the league in hitting (.262) and first in pitching (0.90), plays host to ULM this weekend.

The Jaguars feature the individual league leaders in ERA., with junior right-hander Farish Beard (0.45) and senior left-hander Hannah Campbell  (0.70).

The Warhawks currently rank first in the conference in hitting (.307), and first in stolen bases (77), while ranking seventh in pitching (4.61).

The series is scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 pm, followed by a single game on Sunday at 1 o'clock.

 

WKU (19-10-1, 3-0) at UT-ARLINGTON (14-18, 0-3)

WKU currently ranks fifth in the conference  in hitting (.266) and second in ERA. (2.36).

The Lady Toppers are also the top fielding team in the league, at a .981.

The Mavericks are currently seventh in the league in hitting (.247), while ranking sixth in pitching (3.49).

The two teams will play a 1 o’clock doubleheader on Saturday, followed by a 1 pm single game on Sunday.

 

GEORGIA ST. (13-16, 0-3) at TROY (14-19-2, 0-4)

Georgia St. currently ranks third in the league in hitting (.287), and eighth in pitching (5.15 ERA.), while Troy is eighth in hitting (.213) and fourth in pitching (3.13).

A doubleheader between the two squads is scheduled for Saturday at 1 o'clock, with a single game scheduled for Sunday at noon.
