Around 1 o'clock this morning near the 100 block of Taft Street, a Lafayette Police officer saw a car stopped in the middle of the roadway.

Police say 25-year-old Miles Guidry of Lafayette fired a shot in the air from his gun, and then the man sped away from the intersection at a high rate of speed.

Not to long after the shot was fired, Guidry crashed his car into a building in the 700 block of Johnston Street.

Guidry was charged with:

  • Aggravated flight
  • Illegal discharge of a firearm
  • OWI 2nd offense

Lafayette Police recovered a .357 caliber pistol from Guidry's car.
