Louisiana Department of Wildlife enforcement agents recently arrested a Gramercy man for allegedly operating a vessel while impaired (DWI) in the Atchafalaya Basin in St. Martin Parish.
Family members told KATC-TV 3 earlier on Monday (3/8/21) that the man's body had been found under the Basin Bridge near Whiskey Bay close to where his car was found abandoned yesterday.
Deer hunting in portions of Deer Area 5 in the Atchafalaya Basin has been closed due to flooding, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries along with the St. Martin Parish Government, the Town of Henderson and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be conducting a drawdown on Henderson Lake beginning in August 2018.
Work has officially begun on a major road and bridge renovation for the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. The project will run on Interstate 10 from LA 347 (Henderson/Cecilia exit) to LA 77 in Grosse Tete.
