Lafayette City-Parish District 7 Councilman Don Bertrand of Lafayette Public Utilities Authority has been named to a second three-year term on the American Public Power Association's Policy Makers Council by APPA's Board of Directors.
City-Parish Council member Don Bertrand believes "there [is] a very good chance" that supporters of an ordinance to reconvene the Lafayette Charter Commission will pick up the one vote they need to allow the ordinance to pass through introduction.
Bertrand's comments come in the wake of a turbulent Tuesday council meeting, which featured a heated back-and-forth between fellow council member William Theriot and Burton Kolder, the certified public accountant tasked with auditing Consolidated Government and the Fiber program.
The rights of landowners versus the perceived benefits to the public took center stage Tuesday night as Lafayette City-Parish council members gathered for their regularly scheduled meeting.
